Welcome to this most magical perfect wedding, and I feel like I have to welcome you all because it really is completely breathtaking and beautiful.
Philippa got in contact with me only a few months prior to her wedding date on a hunt for a photographer. I always appreciate enquiries so much and even more so when someone adores my work so much that they want me as their wedding photographer. I am always distinctive with my style and my approach to photographing weddings being so candid, natural and informative. I believe this is what caught Philippa’s eye.
Not only did she enquire via email, but even dropped me a little message via my Facebook page too. This I am entirely grateful for because had she not I wouldn’t have known my emails were playing up which is why I hadn’t seen her first enquiry! For this, I am thank very very thankful!
On the first enquiry it was noted that John wasn’t too keen around a camera, I hear this a lot! I strongly believe this is why I get clients like Philippa and John, because I can ensure they will be fine and I always do my best to make them feel as comfortable as possible because lets face it, its their wedding day after all.
I met with Philippa, John and their beautiful little boy a month or so before the wedding date over a cup of tea and delicious lemon cake that Pip had on offer, of course I didn’t say no! What girl doesn’t love cake? During my visit to their family home John was working in the garden building a bar which was going to be in use for the wedding day.
Philippa and John got married at Langton’s House Registry Office which is a beautiful grade II listed building in the heart of Hornchurch in Havering. It is the most beautiful Registry Office I have ever been too and one of my favourites to photograph. It has a total of 4 ceremony places to choose from and beautiful bespoke gardens and over looks a amazing duck pond too! For their evening the reception was being held at their home in a marquee being set up in their garden.
I was already excited about this wedding before it even began because Pip and John had it all planned and it sounded amazing. Caterers, entertainment the whole sha-bang! With fine little details of their wedding plans I decided this wedding was going to be described as a little rustic fairy-tale.
Philippa and John booked my full day package and I also went along to their home to do a little bridal prep which I am so glad I did. Bridal prep is the most beautiful part to start the day and really sets the story for their wedding journey. During the bridal prep with Philippa, her bridesmaids, mum and hair stylist I had tons of fun. Not only did I see the marquee which… WOW. Looked absolutely unreal. I also met Shauna Douglass the hair stylist and family friend who is just the kindest, most talented person who I highly recommend! For me it is so important to meet other suppliers, after all were all in this crazy business together and support goes such a long way. Philippa’s hair was loose waves and styled with the cutest hair jewellery from Mila Hair Accessories.
Their wedding took place during the day and a beautiful summers day it was. The sun was beaming and meant that the choice of their wedding ceremony fit in perfectly. Philippa and John chose to marry outside in the Orangery which is situated on the grounds of Langton’s house and sets the most picturesque backdrop.
Emotions run high, there was lots of tears and the photographs tell the perfect tale. Philippa looked like a real life fairy and her bridesmaids too! Pip wore a wedding dress she had her eyes set on for a while, she happened to find the dress from a Second Hand Pre-Loved wedding dress company, how amazing is that! It was a lace top with a subtle flow at the bottom with a pink under layer. She paired her dress with a beautiful flower on the ribboned waist band and a pair of open toe shoes which she got for a bargain too! Her two bridesmaids, both her sister Luice and cousin Ella wore blush/pastel pink tutu skirts from The Tutu Shop that Philippa found on a stall during a trip to Belgium and a glitter open back top from Asos. They totally complimented one another! John and their little one always wore slight pink details to match. It was picture perfect.
The ceremony itself was emotional and full of such love, a small intimate ceremony with just family and the closes friends. We kept formal portraits very standard and classic followed by some time with Philippa and her bridesmaids. During the bridal prep, bridesmaid Lucie has spoke about how her dress made her want to twiddle around. Of course I remembered and set it as one of their photographs together. I said afterwards, you all look like little fairies! So yes, thats where the fairy thing comes from.
Having a little wander over to the flower display in the grounds of Langton’s, the girls spotted Lavender. Lavender played a big part in the wedding, the bridesmaids had a small amount of lavender placed in their hair as a memorabilia to their late grandmother. It was such an ironic moment and whilst smelling the freshly grown lavender it made the perfect picture!
For more intimate photographs with Philippa and John I wanted to ensure that they were completely comfortable. As the other guests began to set away I said and I quote “we are just going for a little wander, do your thing and spend some time the three of you” Their little boy came along too. It is so important to me that couples feel at ease and their complete selves. Whatever photograph we take are them and nothing is ever false.
Their little boy loved seeing the ducks so that was the first stop, then a little walk through the gardens and a couple of smiles for the camera and we was done. I’ll let them photographs do the talking.
Philippa came to the ceremony in a beautiful vintage red car which waited to take them back to the venue, here I took one of my favourite shots of the newly married couple!
On arriving at the evening to the most incredible home reception I have ever seen we had music playing from Sunny Steel Band and canapés being served by Absolute Catering Services. The sit down meal was the best form with bbq food and salads served by the amazing catering company followed by delicious deserts. With music, entertainment including children face painting and so much love the evening was the best too! Children during the evening ceremony had so much fun dancing and playing. I actually felt for a moment throughout the reception that I was a guest and not working. It was totally welcoming and surrounded by so many loving people. I got asked several times If I was a friend of Philippa’s and even spent some of my evening sitting at the top table having a right little chin’wag with Laura, Philippa’s mum. Who may I say is the absolute best!
Philippa’s cake was made by a friend Laura who did an absolutely incredible job and I was shocked that it wasn’t what she did as a job, she must! Her naked triple tier cake was topped with the cutest rustic bunting, floral details and blush macaroons. The flowers complimented their colour scheme as well as the interior of the marquee which was so elegantly dressed. Laura has been toying with the idea for years now and has finally decided its now time to start up a new business with her delicious bakes. How amazing is that? Its incredible when peoples dreams become a reality like mine and I cannot wait to see whats in store for her!
I have to say the biggest thank you to Philippa and John for choosing me to be your wedding photographer and also to Philippa and John’s families for complimenting my kindness and my work the entire day and evening. It really means the absolute world and I thoroughly enjoyed myself too. Thank you for having me and thank you for the experience. You are all the kindest most incredible people and I hope to see you again in the future!
The most incredible, memorable fairy-tale wedding full of such emotion and love.
